Also known as a human machine interface device (HID) these are hardware components that allow an operator (human being) to perfectly interact and operate a computer, machinery or any other form of electronic information system. These devices are perfectly labeled so as to avoid any form of error when reading data, feeding data or connecting the devices. They assist in the reading and feeding of information as well connecting devices to their correct interfaces/ports.

A large number of these devices have been developed to accommodate the market. This can be attributed to the fact that many machines have been built in a more sophisticated manner which only allows sophisticated devices to encode and decode these machines. Different interface devices have been primarily built to support specific and different functions. This means that one device cannot perform the function of another device unless they fall under the same category or class.

These devices are primarily made up of the output interface and the input interface. The output interface is used to read the information displayed on the device. Examples include display screens, clocks and digital indicators. Input interface on the other hand are used to feed information in the device. Examples include interface cards, LAN, interface modules and USB. Numerical controls are also used to control industrial machines and devices by a single press or touch. They have been developed in a manner which allows diversity.

Operator terminals and indicators also play an important role in the reading and understanding of the machines been used. Indicators help in informing the user of any errors or complete action while the operator terminals help in perfectly connecting different ports to the main machine. Were it not for these devices, it would have been difficult to even control the machines in the first place.

These devices also play an important role in the connecting of cables and wires on other industrial devices. For machines to perfectly work accordingly, they ought to be connected to their primary source of power or information. Fiber optic cables help in the transfer and sharing of information between different machines and individuals. Connectors under this category are perfectly labeled to ensure that the correct cables are connected perfectly to their primary devices. Examples under this category include interface modules, connectors, interface cards, LAN, USB, Gpib and Rfid network. Power connectors also play an important role as they help in maintaining the power input and output of the machines.

Network appliances also play a great role in any industrial environment when it comes to network sharing and using. These network appliances which fall under the interface devices are primarily specialized for network use. They help in data sharing and maintaining the security of the industry. They include firewalls, network security platforms and circuit to packet appliances. They’re primarily dedicated to perform a single function and cannot do any other task apart from its primary task.
